9 PIECES OF 8

In the movie, The Pirates of the Caribbean, The first Brethren Court planned to use nine actual silver "pieces of eight" to bind Calypso into human form. Because the Pirate Lords at the time were broke, they used whatever random, junk items they had in their pockets instead.  Examples of the items include a wooden eye, a playing card, and a brandy goblet. Historically, a "piece of eight" was a Spanish silver dollar coin worth eight reales. 

This fun collection was inspired by my random bits and pieces of gemstones, pendants and beads that I collected over the years and finally had an inspiration and design in mind for them.  Hope you enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed making it.
